Detroit Lions Offseason

The Detroit Lions have had a rough offseason so far.  With the arrests of multiple players, the media has been giving the Lions a hard time,  Jason Fox was in danger of not making the roster because of his trouble with the law, but so far is on the roster.

Despite all the off the field issues, the Lions were able to make a weaker position on their team stronger, by drafting offensive lineman Riley Reiff in the first round of the 2012 draft. Reiff will bring some much needed depth, and youth to the Lions offensive line.

One of the more controversial picks in the draft was the Lions 2nd round pick Ryan Broyles.  Broyles was a standout receiver at Oklahoma, but sat out most of his senior year with a torn acl. With the acl, and the depth that the Lions already had, most people question this pick, so Broyles will have a lot of pressure on him.

Speaking of the Lions receiving core, Calvin Johnson won the vote as part of ESPN 2 Sportsnation, and Madden NFL 13 to be on the cover.  Johnson will hopefully be able to overcome the Madden curse, and lead the Lions back to the playoffs this year.

First I'd like to say that the Detroit Lions are my team in the NFL. Main reasoning for that is Calvin "Megatron" Johnson. He played his college ball at Georgia Tech, my team in college. All though Johnson and Stafford where bitter rivals in college, its nice to see a few great players from the state that I am from.
We as Lions fans can only hope that the draft picks from this year will help. There is no doubt in my mind for why the Lions can't make the postseason again. They are a young team who are slowly maturing to be potential super bowl winners for years to come.
As far as the offseason trouble, their is still no reason for why the Lions can't go far. As much as it stinks to see players get in trouble, there are rules.
